How can we meaningfully engage patients and people with lived experience in healthcare sustainability efforts?

Canadians are concerned about climate change and many patients express enthusiasm for being able to respond to the climate crisis through their care. Patients experience the health impacts of climate change, whether that be through increases to their care needs or reduced capacity of the healthcare system due to heat, wildfires, and other extreme weather events. Working with patients to implement both mitigation and adaptation strategies ensures that these solutions consider perspectives that healthcare providers and leaders may overlook.

Join us on October 2nd as we explore and elevate the role of patient and community partners in advancing planetary health and sustainable care, by sharing principles, real-world case studies, and strategies for meaningful engagement across Canadian health systems.

Presented in partnership by National Health Engagement Network (NHEN) and Creating a Sustainable Canadian Health System in a Climate Crisis (CASCADES).
