  3. 3rd Annual Rural, Remote and Northern Symposium

On June 2, 2026, the Alliance for Healthier Communities, alongside its Rural, Remote, and Northern Advisory Committee, is bringing together leaders, practitioners, and changemakers from across Ontario for the third annual Rural, Remote and Northern (RRN) Symposium, a focused, energizing day designed to tackle some of the most pressing realities facing rural, remote, and Northern communities. If your work touches these communities in any way, this is where you need to be.

This year’s Symposium isn’t just a series of presentations, it’s a carefully curated agenda that blends policy insight, real-world innovation, and practical dialogue:

  • Opening Remarks from the Minister of Rural Affairs, Hon. Lisa M. Thompson  - (CONFIRMED) (These remarks will be provided via a recording)

  • AI & Rural Health (NEW SESSION ADDED) (CONFIRMING)

  • Recap of and Lessons Learned from South East Grey Community Health Centre’s “Let’s Go Far- Together” – Rural Healthcare Symposium Event (CONFIRMED)

  • The Emerging Homelessness Crisis in Rural Ontario: Exploring Primary Care’s Role in Addressing Rising Homelessness in Rural Communities (CONFIRMED)

  • Strategizing Ahead of the 2026 Municipal Elections from a Rural Lens (CONFIRMED)

  • Engaging discussions in small groups and networking opportunities

*Topics may be subject to change based on agenda development

Throughout the day, dedicated time for small-group discussions and networking will ensure that participants are not just listening, but actively contributing. These moments are where ideas are tested, connections are built, and practical solutions begin to take shape, making the Symposium as interactive as it is informative.
