 The West Elgin Community Health Centre has served our rural communities for over 30 years. Our team provides primary care, illness prevention, health promotion services, and a range of community programs primarily to the residents of Dutton Dunwich and West Elgin municipalities.

# About the position 

 This position is responsible for a range of health promotion activities that engage community members in understanding and addressing the social determinants of health. The Health Promoter designs and implements health promotion strategies, coordinates wellness programs, conducts community needs assessments and is actively engaged with stakeholders including municipalities, politicians, and regional/provincial partners regarding health projects. This position is also a key advocate for healthy public policies.

# Qualifications

  •  Master’s degree in health promotion, community development, community psychology, social work, OR a bachelor’s degree with significant experience in health promotion required. 

  • Certification in program evaluation or community engagement preferred. 
  • 3–5 years in health promotion/community development, including 1–2 years in community health settings preferred. 
  • Proficiency in group facilitation, advocacy, and program evaluation, and experience working with seniors and diverse populations required. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, solutions-focused, compassionate required. 
  • Computer proficiency and previous EMR experience required. 
  • Ability to travel within the Centre’s service area where public transportation may not be available during the hours when service is required. Access to a reliable vehicle during work hours is a must. 
  • Satisfactory, current vulnerable sector police check required.
