Medications are a necessary tool in healthcare. They also contribute to climate change and environmental pollution, some of the biggest health challenges of our time. Medication optimization is an important opportunity to reduce the harms to patients, health systems, and the environment caused by inappropriate medication use—and can play a vital role in shaping a healthier, more sustainable future.

In response to the challenges faced by people in Ontario accessing primary health care, the Ontario Government has made a historic investment in Interprofessional Primary Care Team (IPCT) expansion. Under the leadership of Dr. Jane Philpott, teams have been funded to expand with a goal of increasing attachment for people in Ontario. An additional call for expressions of interest will be issued this fall.
