Measuring "Better" Better

# What is this webinar about?

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) capture data about how clients perceive their health and wellbeing. These tools empower patients to be partners in their care and help us understand whether an intervention is helping a client reach their health goals. In the fall of 2022, the Alliance launched a research project to pilot the use of the EQ-5D PROMs tool at 6 Community Health Centres. The goal of the study was to explore if the integration of the EQ-5D tool supported collaborative care planning and/or evaluation of program/service delivery.

Sara Bhatti, Research & Evaluation Lead at the Alliance will present the final report of the EQ5D PROMs Pilot along with next steps for rollout of the tool.  The Quality Improvement Leads from the Learning Health System team will present a future offering on how to successfully implement the tool and an opportunity to work with other centres to do that.

# Why should you join the webinar?

  1. Learn how the EQ-5D tool can be used to better measure the impact of your work.
  2. Learn how the Alliance is supporting centres to successfully implement the tool and integrate it into clinical workflow.

Planning for Implementation Practice

This workshop is presented by the Sick Kids Knowledge Translation Program.

Planning for Implementation Practice (PIP ©) offers a practical approach to developing an implementation plan that applies to all innovations, practice settings, and sectors. PIP© covers the core elements of implementation, focusing on learning and planning. Participants will be guided by The Implementation Roadmap©, a step-by-step planning tool for implementers in real-world practice settings.

Participants will gain a foundational understanding of implementation science and learn to plan for implementation using The Implementation Roadmap©. In addition, they will learn implementation terminology and recognize the five essential components that guide implementation planning.

# Who is PIP for?

Individuals who are implementing evidence in real-world settings, including:

  • People working in organizations that are supporting an implementation initiative
  • Knowledge brokers, knowledge translation/mobilization professionals
  • Researchers
  • Practitioners or service providers in the community or other settings (e.g., community centres, daycares, schools, mental health agencies, etc.)
  • Policy/decision-makers who want to learn about implementation to inform their work

To get the most out of this workshop, we recommend attending with an implementation project in mind, whether past, present, or future.

How can public health promote decent work as a social determinant of health?

This webinar is presented by the National Collaborating Centres for the Determinants of Health (NCCDH).

Work is a powerful condition of everyday life that can harm or promote the health of workers and their families. Employment conditions and working conditions are two interrelated social determinants of health. Workers who experience structural oppression are disproportionately exposed to precarious employment and hazardous working conditions that are harmful for physical and mental health. As a rising source of health inequities, precarious employment is a key area for public health action.

Join us for this practice-based webinar where we will focus on how the Canadian public health community can promote decent work – a vital social determinant of health and health equity.

This webinar will be of interest to anybody looking to build individual and organizational capacity to improve health inequities for people experiencing precarious employment in Canada.

# Who should attend:

  • Public health and community health practitioners, professionals, policy makers and decision makers
  • Instructors and educators
  • Students
  • Researchers

# Webinar objectives:

  • Explore four roles for public health to advance decent work and health equity
  • Describe three essential cross-cutting approaches to tailor decent work actions to address local worker needs and context
  • Identify real world examples of how public health and community health practitioners and organizations have responded to precarious employment conditions and hazardous working conditions in their communities

# Speakers:

  • Rebecca Cheff (she/her), Knowledge Translation Specialist, NCCDH
  • Carolina Jiminez (she/they), Knowledge Translation Specialist, NCCDH

Canadian Patient Safety Week 2024

Canadian Patient Safety Week is a Program of Healthcare Excellence Canada (HEC).

Organized by Healthcare Excellence Canada, Canadian Patient Safety Week is an annual campaign to inspire extraordinary improvements in healthcare safety and quality. Between now and October, HEC will share many opportunities for you to get involved.

This year, Canadian Patient Safety Week 2024 takes place from October 28 - November 1.

# What comes to mind when you think about healthcare harm? Let’s broaden our understanding of harm, together.

Recognizing and reducing harm is essential to creating safety for all. But what is healthcare harm? How and why does it happen?

In the past, most patient safety efforts and data have focused on counting and reducing physical harm, like injuries from falls, as they are more easily detected, tracked and measured. It’s just as important though to recognize that in addition to physical harm, people may also experience psychological, social and spiritual harm while receiving and delivering healthcare.

During CPSW, join HEC as they explore healthcare harm and how we can proactively take action towards safer care. Everyone in Canada wants and deserves safe, high-quality healthcare – and together we can make that possible.
