Timely access to abortion services improves the health and wellbeing of individuals accessing this service. However, access to abortion services is not distributed equitably across Ontario. Low and no touch medication abortions can help address barriers faced by many people in Ontario by providing low-barrier access to proven safe and effective abortion care.
In 2021, Alliance members passed a resolution, moved by Planned Parenthood Toronto and South Riverdale Community Health Centre, to strive towards ensuring availability of no and low touch medication abortion care as a part of comprehensive sexual health services. To support the implementation of no and low-touch medication abortion at member centres, the Alliance partnered with Planned Parenthood to develop this toolkit, which contains the context and a Protocol for Medication Abortion Provision.
# Contents of the Toolkit:
- Medical Abortion is An Essential Service during the Pandemic, by Michelle Cohen MD CCFP (Canadian Family Physician 67, April 2021)
