# About the organization
The Community Health Centres of Northumberland (CHCN) is a community-governed, not-for-profit organization that provides a comprehensive range of integrated primary health care services and community-based programs that support the physical, mental, and social well-being of individuals and families across Northumberland County. Services are delivered by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, dietitians, diabetes educators, dental professionals, counsellors, health promoters, and community outreach staff.
Through interdisciplinary care teams and strong community partnerships, CHCN works to improve health outcomes and reduce barriers to care for individuals and families across our region.

CHCN's Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and governance to ensure the organization remains responsive to the needs of the community.
Board members:
- Help shape CHCN's strategic direction and long-term vision
- Ensure accountability, financial stewardship, and organizational sustainability
- Champion health equity and community-centred care
- Represent the interests and experiences of the communities we serve
- Participate in board and committee discussions that support organizational success
Board of Directors Recruitment
No previous board experience is required. Orientation, training, and ongoing support are provided.

Who We’re Looking For

Preference will be given to individuals who live or work in Northumberland County.
Requirements
Time Commitment
Board members are expected to:
- Serve a three-year term
- Attend Board meetings in person at our Port Hope location — approximately 9 meetings per year
- Serve on at least one Board committee, which meets regularly throughout the year
- Dedicate approximately 4–6 hours per month for meeting preparation, attendance, and committee participation
