This International Overdose Awareness Day event is organized by the Health Service Executive (HSE) National Social Inclusion Office, Ireland

Times listed here are in Eastern Daylight Time (Toronto/Ontario).

To mark International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) 2026, the HSE National Social Inclusion Office will host a free live webinar on Monday 31st August from 8:00-9:30 am.

As part of the world’s annual campaign to raise awareness of drug-related overdose, the HSE invite guests to join the event to help end overdose, remember those who have died without stigma and acknowledge the grief experienced by family and friends left behind.

The sub theme for the 2026 event is: 25 Years. Still Needed. This year marks the 25th anniversary of International Overdose Awareness Day. For 25 years, International Overdose Awareness Day has brought people together to remember those we’ve lost and to take action to save lives. Overdose continues to affect every community. Yet it can be prevented.
