# What is a learning collaborative?
A learning collaborative (LC) is a time-limited learning system that brings together peers from multiple organizations to seek improvement in a focused topic area, with guidance from a coach or practice facilitator – in this sector it is the Alliance for Healthier Communities’ QIP Leads. Participants in a learning collaborative receive training in quality improvement (QI) methodologies, and they are supported in applying those methodologies with their own teams. This approach was developed by the Institute for Health Information (IHI)’s Collaborative Model for Achieving Breakthrough Improvement.
# What is the time commitment?
This learning cycle will run for 10-12 months with recruitment and Meet & Greets happening from June to August 2025 with formal learning sessions and improvement work beginning in September ending with a Capstone in June 2026.
