# Alliance Statement: Impact of Consumption and Treatment Services Closures and Recommendations for Strengthening Addiction and Homelessness Support in Ontario
The closure of Consumption and Treatment Services will have immediate and devastating impacts on communities across the province. The evidence overwhelmingly shows that these services, embedded within wraparound primary health care, keep drug use off the streets, prevent the spread of deadly diseases, reverse overdoses, and help people get to pathways for recovery.
We applaud the Ontario Government for investing in HART Hubs and including supportive housing as part of the solution to the toxic drug crisis, we know that HART Hubs are not to be a direct replacement for the services being closed.
Every municipality in Ontario is struggling, and 19 hubs won’t meet the need. We need to see more investment in HART Hubs across the province and we must ensure the Hubs offer a complete spectrum of addiction treatment, including life-saving harm reduction tools.
Our goal is to work with the Government of Ontario to limit the impact of these closures and ensure HART Hubs are a success for everyone in the province.
