The complex challenges facing our communities today require us to think and work differently. We need to turn things upside down and shift our thinking to focus on what is already in our communities that we can build from through an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. This approach recognizes the power that communities have to create change and helps people to form the trust and connections necessary to create and sustain vibrant, inclusive communities.
This workshops provides an introduction to Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) as a people-centered approach to planning. The ABCD approach looks for and starts with people's gifts and strengths (assets), when these assets are connected, they can then address the problems and challenges in their communities.
Join Heather Keam as we work through the foundations and principles of ABCD, including new and improved processes, and how to center community in your programs and activities. This workshop is an introductory session for those who are new to ABCD or want a refresher as ABCD has changed a lot over the past 10 years.
Participants will work through the four actions of building a foundation of assets, connecting and identifying the functions of a community. There will also be an opportunity to explore how an ABCD lens can be applied to your current work.

Managing medication. Scheduling appointments. Communicating with healthcare teams. These are some of the critical tasks caregivers manage for family, friends and neighbours. When they’re supported, they provide better care, improving health outcomes for patients.
But despite their crucial role, more caregivers are facing burnout and struggling to get by. Almost three in four report that they don’t know how to go on.
That’s why the Ontario Caregiver Organization designed a webinar specifically for primary care teams to improve patient care by supporting caregivers. Join to get practical tips on how to reduce caregiver burnout, along with insight from Jess Rogers, Chief Executive Officer at the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario, and Nancy Ewen, Executive Director at Elliot Lake Family Health Team.

This month we will be joined by Holly Brown (Trans Health Team Lead, Centretown Community Health Centre) and Carley Hoja (Social Worker, Kingston Community Health Centres, Trans Health Program), members of the Quality Standards Advisory Table that supported the development of the Health Quality Ontario Quality Standards on Gender Affirming Care for Gender Diverse People.
Come learn about the standards required to provide high quality health care services for Gender Diverse People from the perspective of two staff members doing this work on the ground. During this hour-long session, you will hear highlights of the quality standards, and be provided with some resources to support the ongoing work of supporting this equity deserving community. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers after Holly and Carley’s presentation.

The CHC Evaluation Framework (EF) Manual lists the data elements to be collected about clients, service encounters, and group programs at community health centres within the Alliance for healthier communities. It is updated periodically to ensure alignment with current practices and the needs of our sector.
The most recent round of updates to the Alliance's CHC EF Manual was begun in 2023 and completed in February 2025. Some of these updates necessitate changes to custom forms used to in TELUS PS Suite EMR, which each centre must make locally. In this webinar, we will present an overview of this year's updates to the EF Manual as well as the changes you will need to make in your EMR in order to collect the data accurately.
