The Physician will perform assessment, diagnosis and treatment, health education, counselling and other clinical activities according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) standards of practice primarily at WECHC locations throughout Windsor and Essex County including our mobile health clinic vehicle as required.

This position will also be responsible for the following:

  • Work collaboratively with other health care providers to provide optimal care for the Centre’s clients, including active collaboration with Nurse Practitioners
  • Provide care and treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative means in order to attain/maintain optimal function of the client
  • Provide clinical assessments addressing the physical and emotional needs of clients, including those with multiple co-morbid conditions, mental health diagnoses and addictions and chronic pain evaluation and management and specialization in primary care
  • Contribute to chart documentation, participate in chart reviews and case conferences and make referrals
  • Implement appropriate strategies by working with the inter-professional team using a client centered approach
  • Actively participate in the teaching/learning process with clients, families, students and team members about best practice and evidence based care
  • Provide on-call client support on a rotating schedule
  • Perform other duties that support the mission and vision of the organization and/or as assigned based on position responsibilities and/or site requirements.


  • Minimum of two to five (2-5) years’ experience working as a primary care Physician with vulnerable populations
  • Experience in a community health setting or combination of community health and hospital or public health settings
  • Must have experience with people experiencing addictions, specifically able to deliver skills in pain management, substance abuse, collaborative practice, counselling and can demonstrate an ability to lead, influence, support and make changes in the practice of medicine
  • Must also be able to lead a multidisciplinary recovery team with includes plans that deliver and evaluate recovery treatment in collaboration with people experiencing addictions
  • Strong attention to patient and family-centered care and establishing therapeutic relationships
  • Experience in program and service development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an inter-professional team environment
  • Strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills, combined with good analytical, problem solving, organizational and administrative skills
  • Evidence of on-going professional development
  • Bilingual (English/French) language skills an asset
  • Clean driver’s abstract and a current and valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License with reliable transportation to support travel throughout Windsor-Essex County.


  • Medical degree from a recognized University
  • Member in good standing, or eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • General license to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Certified Family Physician Certification (CFPC) or equivalent and practical experiences an asset
  • Completion of a Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to commencing employment
