Family Services Manager
1-Full-Time, Permanent

The Rexdale Community Health Centre (RCHC) is a multi-service centre providing primary health care, health promotion and community support services, including settlement and community development activities for families, children, youth, adults and seniors of diverse backgrounds. The Manager of Family Services supervises programs dedicated to pre and post-natal women, children, and other programs by providing strategic direction and oversight of day to day operations.

Responsibilities and Related Tasks:

  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, development and dismissal of staff
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a unified & high performing teams
  • Responsible for supervision as well as conducting of regular performance appraisal of individuals.
  • Conducts regular team meetings.
  • Manage the coordination of meetings, meeting preparation, and follow-up.
  • Plans and facilitates staff development activities for the team and individuals
  • Counsels and assists staff with clinical program and client issues.
  • Advises staff and seeks input regarding Centre's policies and procedures 
  • Responsible for scheduling staff, approving and monitoring staff training, absences and ensuring adequate program coverage.
  • Accountable for cost effectiveness and expenditure of funds.
  • Recommends, plans, and develops budgets and conducts, and approves activities in accordance with approved plans and budgets.
  • Monitors and ensures that program expenditures remain within budget.
  • Assists in preparation of all reports related to programs and special projects.
  • Demonstrate anti-oppressive and equitable practice during all interactions. 
  • Maintains awareness of Centre/Ministry/LHIN/funders’ requirements.
  • Builds, promotes, and maintains strong partnerships with other Community Health Centres, institutions (public health, hospitals), service agencies, and organizations at the local, provincial and national levels.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement activities, including drafting regular updates, reports on events, activities and accomplishments for internal and external audiences.
  • Identify training, tools, and material deficiencies within program and develop and/or recommend improvements.

  • Ensure participants are involved in decision-making and program planning for all programs.

  • Maintains appropriate communications within and between various departments and programs within the Centre and participates on various internal committees.
  • Assists with formulating and recommending organizational policies and objectives or changes in existing policies and objectives.
  • Maintains current knowledge of policy manuals, reading minutes of meetings and keeping up to date with organizational events, policies and changes.
  • Contributes to the efficient functioning of the organization and the attainment of goals.
  • Other duties and committee work as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Health Promotion, Public Administration, or comparable program management background.
  • Minimum five (5) years management experience, two years in a community based setting.
  • Strong critical analysis, problem solving, planning, decision-making, leadership, organizational and change management skills.
  • Experience in program/service development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of computers and various software applications.
  • Strong promoter and enhancer of teamwork.
  • Knowledge of services and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of the Rexdale and South Etobicoke is an asset.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset (i.e. Punjabi, Spanish, Somali, French).
  • Ability to work flexible hours; including evenings and weekend.
  • Must be able to provide a vulnerable sector security clearance.

Salary: $61,496 - $74,090 (depending on experience) plus extended benefits and HOOPP
Hours: 35 hours per week
Starting date: ASAP
Status: Non-unionized position
